So I did a lot of thinking over the holidays about where to go with Fright-Rags in 2009. I already have quite a few things planned and I have a feeling it’s going to be a big year ahead.

My primary goal has always been (and always will be) to provide you with the most kick-ass horror shirts, period. Afterall, you are a true horror fan and deserve to wear the best…why settle for anything less? And from all the emails and comments I’ve received, what you want are new designs. Fright Flicks cards

Anyone remember these Fright Flicks trading cards? I used to love them as a kid. I was just thinking about how different things are these days. I’m not sure if it’s because I’m older or what, but it just doesn’t seem like it used to be. I guess every generation goes through that…that’s why there’s the same old ‘ “When I was your age…” stories we get told by our parents and grandparents.

But seriously, think about it… Today everything is instant acces, instant gratification. You no longer have to wait for Saturday mornings for cartoons. There are (several) channels that show them 24 hours a day. You don’t have to wait a week for your favorite show to come on..you can just set your DVR to record an entire season. And when was the last time you saw a “new” trailer at the theater? Chances are you saw it when it went online weeks (sometimes months) before that.

My point is, I’m constantly trying to recreate the joy I used to experience as a kid. But there isn’t much out there right now that makes me feel like I did when I was young. Sure, once and awhile some new technology will come around and I’ll drool over it (see previous bost on Blu-Ray), but it’s usually it’s the things I used to have that create that bring out that little kid in me. For instance, I just ordered a few of those Fright Flicks cards and I was just as excited to open them now as I was 10 and  rode my BMX down to the convenience store to buy a pack with my hard-earned allowance. The only difference is that I won’t eat the gum in these…after all, it is over 20 years old.

So after recently swinging a great deal on a 42″ LCD tv for my downstairs “rec room” (thanks to my parents - they won a 42″ Plasma and sold me their year-old LCD) I decided to take the plunge into Blu-Ray. My DVD player was just about 10 years old and has never been able to play anything other than standard DVDs (so all my bootleg burned discs were watched on my computer). Plus, I had been given a copy of Black Christmas on Blu-Ray for review and up until then, had no way to view it.
